University Events
Â鶹´«Ã½F Day at the fair - Aug. 2
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Fairbanks will host Â鶹´«Ã½F Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Â鶹´«Ã½F employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing Â鶹´«Ã½F apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. The day will include Â鶹´«Ã½F activities throughout the fairgrounds. .
AEDC luncheon - Aug. 3
Â鶹´«Ã½ President Pat Pitney will be addressing the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation during its 3-Year Outlook Luncheon. Her remarks will largely focus on the University of Alaska Anchorage, and how the university system contributes to Alaska’s economy. The event will be taking place on August 3, 2022 at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage, Alaska, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Doors to the Destination Anchorage Exhibit Hall will open at 10:30 a.m. and Roger Brooks, international destination development expert, will be the Keynote Speaker. Alaska's Critical Minerals Summit - Aug. 22-23
Alaska’s mineral resources are key to both national security and the nation’s economic and clean energy goals, as 21st century needs rely on critical minerals and rare earth elements. The Â鶹´«Ã½ is hosting , a two-day summit for policy makers, agency representatives and industry leaders to discuss paths for advancing Alaska’s role in meeting the nation’s critical and strategic mineral needs. The summit will address the state’s strengths, resources, capabilities and investment opportunities to meet the national imperative.

Midsummer Maker's Market - July 29-30
Designed to showcase amazing small businesses locally and around our state; there will be home decor, food, clothing, art, and more! Friday, July 29 12-8, Saturday, July 30 12-8 at 4753 Eielson Farm Road at the Arctic Harvest Distillery, There will be hay rides, a petting zoo, corn maze, and amazing Alaskan makers! .
Fairbanks Fungi Festival - Aug. 28
The wild and cultivated fungi of Alaska can be used for everything from food to medicine to building materials, and there are more species of fungi than plants and animals combined! This festival is organized by a group of volunteers, and our goal is to make a family-friendly event so everyone can learn about the wonders of fungi. Join us for presentations, forays, music and vendors! August 28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ester Community Park.

International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples - Aug. 9
The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples seeks to protect and promote the rights, culture, and land of indigenous people. Indigenous peoples, descendants of pre-colonial times, have a strong tie to their lands and often suffer from marginalization as a minority group. Indigenous People account for about 6% of the and 90% of its cultural diversity. The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples was designated by the United Nations in December of 1994. It is now celebrated annually on August 9, a day that marks the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982.
Womens Equality Day - Aug. 26
Women’s Equality Day encourages and promotes equal rights and opportunities for women. This observance also commemorates the Nineteenth Amendment of the US Constitution. It prohibits denying the right to vote according to gender.
