Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents to hold first in-person meeting in two years June 2-3

During this two-day meeting, the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents will approve the university system’s FY 23 operating and capital budget as approved by the Legislature.
The budget appropriations, still to be reviewed and signed by Gov. Dunleavy, will bring stability to the Â鶹´«Ã½ system and provide funding for critical areas including:
- $9.9 million for compensation and fixed cost increases (includes a 2% salary increase for non-bargaining staff, firefighters, and local 6070)
- $3.5 million for health program faculty to meet workforce demand
- $2 million for alternative energy
- $1 million for health clinicals
- $1 million for teacher education
- $635,900 for continued Alaska Library Network and Imagination Library support
- $200,000 for Alaska Area Health Education Centers
- $100,000 increase to mental health trust funding
- $72,300 for technical vocational education program funds (+$881,800 FY22 supplemental)
- And increased authorization to receive federal funding for research
This meeting is the first in-person gathering of the board in two years, marking an optimistic new chapter in the Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s efforts to maintain successful operations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The two-day meeting will be held Thursday, June 2 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday, June 3 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Room 107 of the Lee Gorsuch Commons at the Â鶹´«Ã½ Anchorage.
The meeting, with the exception of any executive sessions, is public and will be livestreamed on the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents website.
