Human Resources will hold open houses Dec. 6

This December, you're invited to come find out more about job openings, benefits and meet your colleagues in human resources. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Human Resources department will be hosting open houses from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at all three Â鶹´«Ã½ campuses.

Most Â鶹´«Ã½ offices will be closed for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and winter break. Essential student and campus services will remain staffed. Here is what you need to know:

Â鶹´«Ã½Online outage Thanksgiving weekend
November 27, 2019
Â鶹´«Ã½Online will be offline starting early Thursday morning through the Thanksgiving break. The outage will last from midnight Thursday, Nov. 28, until 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2. During this time, students will be unable to access registration and other functions within Â鶹´«Ã½Online. However, CourseFinder will still be available to search the class schedule. This outage will not impact Blackboard or other systems.

Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation seeks nominations for 2020 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which includes a $15,000 award, is presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in support of the Â鶹´«Ã½. Any Â鶹´«Ã½ student, faculty, staff or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the university's mission is eligible to be nominated.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents will hold a special board meeting from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 to review and discuss the chancellors' responses to the letter from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The agenda for the emergency meeting will be posted on Friday, Oct. 25 and can be found at https://alaska.edu/bor/agendas/.

Â鶹´«Ã½ joins collaborative to address sexual and gender harassment in higher education
October 25, 2019
The Â鶹´«Ã½ has joined National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and 60 colleges, universities, and research institutions to launch an Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education. The action collaborative is a four-year commitment that focuses on the faculty role and engagement in Title IX.

After 18 years, the Â鶹´«Ã½ College Savings Plan launches new brand
October 25, 2019
The Â鶹´«Ã½ College Savings Plan announced that it is changing its name to Alaska 529 as of October 15, 2019. The Alaska-based education savings plan is offered by the Education Trust of Alaska. After 2017 tax reform expanded the use of 529 plans, the Education Trust of Alaska determined the need for a name and a brand that better represents the products and services it provides.
