Theresa Bakker appointment

Theresa Bakker has been appointed as the interim executive director of University Advancement. In this role, she will lead Â鶹´«Ã½F's development, alumni relations, communications and marketing activities.

Bakker will start the interim role on Nov. 6 and serve until a permanent candidate is hired. Felicia Burud, Alumni Relations manager, will serve as the acting director of Alumni Relations during this period.

Bakker currently serves as the Â鶹´«Ã½F Alumni Relations director and the executive director of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Fairbanks Alumni Association. Prior to this, Bakker served as the marketing and communications manager at the Â鶹´«Ã½ Museum of the North. She first came to Fairbanks in 1996 to work as a producer for KÂ鶹´«Ã½C. She has also worked as a journalist for a variety of print and broadcast media across Alaska. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Pacific Lutheran University.

The recruitment for the executive director of University Advancement position launched on Monday, Oct. 30.
