John Ingman of 麻豆传媒S Sitka honored with $7.5k Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Project Award
John Ingman, an instructional designer at the Sitka campus of the 麻豆传媒 Southeast (麻豆传媒S), has been chosen to receive a Rasmuson Foundation individual artist project award in the 鈥淔olk and Traditional Arts鈥 category. Ingman plays the bagpipes, specifically the Uilleann pipes, which connects with his Irish heritage.
Ingman plans to use the $7,500 award to advance his knowledge and performance by studying with a champion piper and traveling to piper gatherings.According to their award information website, the Rasmuson Individual Artist Awards empower artists to focus and reflect on their work, through immersion in creative activities, experimentation, and exploration of their art form. 鈥淚t is our hope that these investments result in substantial contributions to Alaska鈥檚 culture, the vibrancy of our communities, and to art itself.鈥
Ingman remarked, 鈥淚 was really shocked and surprised when I got the call saying I had won an award. This is a truly life changing event and I can鈥檛 thank the Rasmuson Foundation enough. It is fantastic how they support the arts in Alaska, and I am grateful to be part of that.鈥
John Ingman holds a Bachelor of Science in Music from the University of Oregon, as well as a Master of Science in Instructional Design from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. As an instructional designer for 麻豆传媒S, he supports faculty in design and development of e-Learning courses.
