Â鶹´«Ã½ Launches Giving Day October 20
The Â鶹´«Ã½ will celebrate its inaugural Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day on Tuesday, October 20. Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day - Forty-nine hours for the 49th state - is an online fundraising effort for Â鶹´«Ã½ alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends to come together in support of a common goal to support the University of Alaska. Giving Day begins at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and donors will have the opportunity to participate through 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day is a collaborative effort between the Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation and the three separately accredited universities Â鶹´«Ã½ Anchorage, University of Alaska Fairbanks, and the Â鶹´«Ã½ Southeast. It is an opportunity to encourage students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community to come together in a show of support for the Â鶹´«Ã½. Donations of all sizes are welcome.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day website, , has tools to help participants easily share the event through digital and social media channels. The website will track not only overall dollars and donors generated during Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day, but also gifts to schools and colleges, departments, programs and designated funds. Post about Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day across social media channels using the #Â鶹´«Ã½GivingDay2020 hashtag and share in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day fun and excitement.
Donors are encouraged to support the campus and area of the University that is most meaningful to them. Social media ambassadors will challenge friends and family to also support the Â鶹´«Ã½ on Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day.
In launching Â鶹´«Ã½ Giving Day, the Â鶹´«Ã½ joins a successful trend among Association of American Universities institutions, creating a university-specific day to celebrate philanthropy.
