Presenters: Disability Support Staff from all three MAUs

Session Summary: Working with students who present challenges can be demanding, but that’s often where the most meaningful progress happens. Keep in mind that you're not alone in this journey – there are always resources, colleagues, and strategies to lean on. In this informative and interactive webinar, Disability Services staff from all three MAUs will use real-world scenarios to provide faculty and staff with practical strategies and tools. This session will be 90 minutes, but we will remain online for discussion and to answer questions as long as needed.

Key topics include:

  • Understanding Accommodation Requests: How to handle student requests for extended time, alternative formats, and other accommodations.
  • Building Communication: Best practices for initiating conversations about accommodation needs and conduct concerns with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Effective Problem-Solving: How to balance the needs of individual students with the overall dynamics of the class, event, and/or environment.

Who Should Attend: Faculty, staff, and administrators who interact with students.

This informal conversation is open to all Â鶹´«Ã½ staff, faculty and administrators. Disability Services staff statewide will be available to answer your questions, discuss ideas on how to support students, or other relevant topics! Come join us for an open conversation designed to support our campus community. This session will not be recorded.
