The Bargaining Unit definition includes: Graduate Assistants (including Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Service Assistants, and Engagement Assistants) Student Assistants, and Fellows enrolled in graduate programs.
Regular, full-time University employees, regardless of whether they are enrolled in a graduate program, are not part of AGWA/Â鶹´«Ã½W.
On April 30, 2024, Â鶹´«Ã½ reached a tentative agreement on a full contract with the newly formed AGWA. Details can be found below or by clicking here. The agreement was then approved by AGWA members, the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents , and the Alaska Department of Administration.

On April 30, 2024, Â鶹´«Ã½ reached a tentative agreement on a full contract with AGWA. Details can be found below or by clicking here. The agreement must be approved by AGWA members and the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Regents, and will then be forwarded to the Alaska Department of Administration for approval. Â鶹´«Ã½ has also submitted a funding amendment for the legislature to consider for inclusion in the budget for Fiscal Year/Academic Year 2025, which begins on July 1, 2024.

Â鶹´«Ã½ and graduate student union reach tentative 3-year contract agreement
April 30, 2024The Â鶹´«Ã½ administration has reached a tentative initial agreement on a three-year contract with the Alaska Graduate Workers Association (AGWA), the newly formed union representing graduate student employees. The contract terms are July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2026.
