Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day 2020

Today we recognize Alaska's Indigenous tribes with celebrations across our university system in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day. The Â鶹´«Ã½ upholds Indigenous Peoples' Day with culturally relevant events in honor of the Indigenous people of this land who have thrived and survived in Alaska for more than 10,000 years.

852 Alaska students receive the $12,000 Â鶹´«Ã½ Scholars Award

Every year, more than 300 schools in Alaska identify the top ten percent of their junior class for the Â鶹´«Ã½ Scholar Award, a designation which includes a $12,000 scholarship for use at any Â鶹´«Ã½ campus. As of October 5, 852 students have been named for the prestigious award.

New Legislation Would Provide Greater Fiscal Stability for the Â鶹´«Ã½

U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Don Young, all R-Alaska, last week introduced new legislation, the Â鶹´«Ã½ Fiscal Foundation Act, in both the Senate and House of Representatives. The legislation is supported by Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, also R-Alaska, and would resolve the Â鶹´«Ã½'s (University) unfulfilled land grant to help it generate revenues that support its students and operations.

Regents approve discontinuation of four Â鶹´«Ã½A athletics teams, address budget challenges
