Social Security & Medicare


The Â鶹´«Ã½ withdrew from participation in Social Security in 1982.  This may affect your Social Security earnings/retirement. In most cases, while you are an employee at Â鶹´«Ã½, you will not pay into Social Security. There are some exceptions to this for certain temporary employees.  All employees are required to participate in the Medicare portion of social security.

The (WEP) applies if you earned retirement (such as PERS, TRS or ORP) in any job where you did not pay Social Security taxes and you also worked in other jobs long enough to qualify for a Social Security retirement or disability benefit.
